About MeterMentor
Helping Texans make smarter electricity choices, starting with a free independent plan check.
Our Mission
Texas has one of the most competitive electricity markets in the country: hundreds of providers and thousands of plans. That is good for competition, but overwhelming for consumers.
MeterMentor cuts through that noise. We use your actual electricity usage to estimate which available plans are likely to cost you less: no gimmicks, no hidden fees, and no provider commissions shaping the result. You start with a free comparison and only pay if you want the other plans we found and provider links when available.
Start Free, Then Go Deeper
Upload your Smart Meter Texas usage file, answer a few contract questions, and get an independent first-pass read with no account required.
- Your estimated current-plan cost
- How your home actually uses power by season and time of day
- Whether the math points toward switching now, waiting, or using caution
- The specific top provider and plan match, including the EFL when available
- The watch-outs that matter most, such as bill-credit cliffs or new-customer limits
When you are ready to go deeper, the $12 pass shows the other plans we found, provider links when available, and the details to check before switching. Reminder and re-check features are planned later as the product expands.
Our Independence
MeterMentor is 100% independent. We take no compensation from electricity providers: no commissions, no referral fees, no advertising payments. That means:
- Recommendations come from your usage data, contract inputs, and current plan data, never provider money.
- We have no incentive to push expensive or low-quality plans.
- We can be transparent about a plan's drawbacks.
- Our only revenue comes from customers through simple non-renewing access passes.
Because no provider pays us, we can tell you to stay put, wait, or leave, including leaving a provider that a free comparison site might be paid to enroll you with. That is the whole point.
The Problems We Solve
Average Usage Does Not Apply to You
Most tools show rates at 500, 1,000, or 2,000 kWh. If your usage swings by season, those average rates do not tell you what you will actually pay.
Hidden Complexity in Pricing
Many plans use tiered rates, usage credits, or different rates at different usage levels. Without analyzing your real usage, the true cost is hard to know.
Contract Renewal Traps
When a contract expires, many providers roll customers onto expensive variable rates. By the time you notice, you may have overpaid for months.
Your Data, Protected
Your electricity usage data is:
- Protected with standard security controls
- Never sold to third parties
- Never shared with electricity providers
- Used only to generate your analysis
- Deletable at any time by contacting support
If you run the free comparison without an account, we use your file to produce your result and do not require your email. We only save your email if you ask us to contact you about MeterMentor updates.
